What's so great about the St. Pete Beach Classic?

We do lots of things different than most other running races.

First of all:

  • Beach Party
  • Bonfire
  • Certified course distances
  • Great post-race food (not just bananas and bagels)
  • Tons of volunteers
  • Great community sponsors

Additionally:

  • We give awards 5 deep in 5-year age groups starting with 9 & under and going to 75+

  • The t-shirts are long sleeved tech shirts and have a design done by a local artist (the awards are framed re-productions of original art done by the same artist).

  • There are finishers medals for the Duo, Half-marathon and Marathon Challenge.

  • Awards for the Duo and Marathon Challenge are first place only and will include something in addition to the award – in the past it has included sunglasses, and Air-Sports Watch -- but we don't know at this point!

AND with the addition of the Half Marathon and Classic Marathon Challenge --

  • We are adding a day to the expo.
  • Adding the Sunset Beach Fun Run
  • Moving our traditional beach party and bonfire to Saturday night.
  • We will also have a party with a live band on Friday night.
  • All events are on the Sirata property and the races start and finish there as well.
  • Staying at the Sirata will get you a $30 credit on you bill for showing a race registration confirmation at check in and we've worked out great rates there as well.

Area Info

Deemed the "Sunset Capital of Florida", St. Pete Beach rings in the beautiful sunsets by gathering to ring a bell every evening at sunset.

With an average high of 69o F in mid-January, it is easy to feel why this beautiful Gulf Coast area is an athlete's paradise. Nestled on the Gulf Coast, St. Pete Beach has miles of beautiful white beaches. This destination offers a wide range of selections for accommodations which include luxury resorts, family owned hotels and quaint B&B's.

St. Pete Beach has so many activities that there isn't a reason to leave the island! Spend the day shopping the Corey Avenue District or Historic 8th Avenue in Pass-a-grille. Neighboring beach communities offer additional shopping experiences and are a short Beach Trolley ride away. Enjoy water sports like surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking, parasailing and fishing. Take a dolphin sightseeing cruise or a sunset sail. Nearby attractions include museums and art galleries, such as the Salvador Dali Museum and Chihuly Glass Gallery. There are also natural attractions, such as the award winning Fort DeSoto Park.
